Pumpkin Patch Adventures

Fall festivities in the North East are a given when it comes to visiting the orchards. Lush green trees and scenic mountaintop views sound like something right out of the pages of a childhood story book, don't you think? Do not even get me started on the smell of hot apple cider and fresh cinnamon sugar donuts!  As I'm writing this, I can almost taste the goodness of this flavor combination. These are just a few specialties featured in my hometown. Ones that I've incorporated into my marriage traditions and my heart of gratitude. Home is definitely where the heart is. There is no other place like it.

Y'all, did I get a chance to mention that this adventure was a complete surprise courtesy of my great husband, Brandon? What a perfect Sunday afternoon! He must be checking up on those Tiffany's Korner facebook notifications ;) We had the best morning at church on Sunday and it was a joy to get a chance to spend some one on one time together shortly after. We've been looking forward to an autumn date since the crisp air began rustling through the trees back in early September.

We started off the adventure by getting our bright orange wristbands for admission as we journeyed to the patch on the cutest hayride. The weather couldn't have been any greater for the occasion; 75 degrees and a slight breeze. The excitement of the arrival of sweater weather is real!

#RealLife confession. This photo was taken on an overcrowded and bumpy ride. The iPhone 7 photo quality cannot be messed with people. I felt like Cinderella was about to pop out of the pumpkins.

I'm almost positive we tried to find the biggest most circular pumpkins in the field. We were one of the few who grazed the outskirts of the patch in search of the great pumpkin. I'd say we did Charlie Brown justice with the winners brought home. Each one uniquely telling a story of the experience we got to share that October day.

There's always a story to be told behind each photo. This particular one was pretty funny! After we settled back at the entrance to the orchard, I was eager to document our first festive pumpkin photo as a married couple. I was prepared to be patient and learn the angles as my phone stood against a makeshift stand sitting on 10 second timer mode just feet in front of us. Well, it didn't work the best, but two thumbs up for the motivational attitude right? A kind family of three walked by noticing the dilemma happening right in front of us and was ready to lend a helping hand. YAY!

We stopped inside for a quick look around the market. Is "just looking" a real thing? The fresh produce gave me heart eyes and Brandon had his gaze on a half a dozen donuts. Therefore, we definitely caved in! I grabbed myself a $1.50 chunk of kale and sneaky mug of cider while Brandon waited in the enormous line for fresh donuts. Rulf's Orchard is an easy 10/10. We would recommend!

One of my resolutions in 2016 was to choose well. Spending more time and money on experiences rather than on things. This still rings into the new year as we wrap up the mid-October month. Looking back and having stories to tell is something I'll always be grateful for.
